Exams and final exam

Your are required to abide by the following Exam regulations:

We treat cheating with zero tolerance. The consequences of cheating are at a minimum that the score for work on which cheating occurs counts as 0 and all instances of misconduct will be reported to the Dean’s office. It is the responsibility of every student to be aware of the contents of the Boston University Academic Conduct Code and to abide by its provisions.

All of your work on exams must be yours alone. This means you must not discuss any aspect of the exam with anyone, and you are not permitted to consult any other resources (other than your textbook). If you use chat, messaging, video calls, Chegg, and similar resources, you are cheating; please do not do so.

There are five quizzes and a final exam.

  • Exam 1, Thursday, September 23, 5pm
  • Exam 2, Tuesday, October 26, 5pm
  • Exam 3, Tuesday, November 23, 5pm
  • Final exam, Friday, December 17, 3-5pm

Exam 1, Thursday, September 23, 5pm. The exam is based on all of the lectures, textbook, and assigned problems: and worksheets 1, 2, and 3 from Chapters 15 and 16 in McQuarrie et al., excluding sections 15-9 through 15-13, and sections 16-6 and 16-7.

The worksheet and its answers are posted on the Handouts page (here) and the information sheet there will be provided as part of the exam.

All work must be shown to receive credit.

Exam 2, Tuesday, October 26, 5pm. The exam is based on all of the lectures, textbook, and assigned problems: sections 16-6 and 16-7 (worksheet 4); chapters 17, 18, 19 and 22; and corresponding material of discussion worksheets 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (chapter 19 questions only), and 8 (chapter 22 questions only). Please note that while the exam focuses on the preceding, it assumes material covered earlier.

All work must be shown to receive credit.

Exam 3, Tuesday, November 23, 5pm. The exam is based on all of the lectures, textbook, and assigned problems: chapters 20, 21, and 23; and corresponding material of discussion worksheets 7 (chapter 20 questions only), 8, 9, 10 (chapter 23 questions only), 11, and 12 (chapter 23 questions only). Please note that while the exam focuses on the preceding, it assumes material covered earlier.
